About Me

  • Hi. How do you really describe yourself? I dunno. I am currently in Medical Technology school at Baptist-Health and will graduate with my 2nd ( count that 2 ) B.S. degree from Louisiana Tech University in Ruston ( not Baton Rouge, hmph) this fall. Yay! I would really like to go to grad school but I'm becoming burnt out of school. However, I really don't think a job should define who someone is.. so scratch all that I just wrote. I love to talk, meet new people, discover neat places to go, laugh until I cry, be around my amazing friends, and be around my family as long as they will let me. :P Music is a major part of my life. I've played piano forever and flute it seems just as long. I really became passionate about colorguard but now that I'm not marching anymore I'm not as active in it as I would like. Let's see... oh yea... the most important. I believe I have an ever lasting love around me at all times called God. Please ignore my rants and laugh at the jokes... :P

  • All you need is love....

I've been very contemplative lately.  As in where is my life headed, what are my goals in the short-term as well as way down the road.  I know that as of the last month, I've really enjoyed having a set schedule and being able to go to work, and not bring it home with me.  To be home and truly be free of work for the evening is a true blessing.  I ran at such a hard pace the past few years, that some boring old same ol same ol days has been such a good medicine.  I play around in my head with grad school or SBB school but for right now I'm happy so I don't give it too much thought.

Sarah and Donald's wedding was so gorgeous.  It really fit them.  I've been watching their cat and apartment while they are on their honeymoon.  It's been super easy, but I'll be ready for them to be back tomorrow.  :D

    It's official I love to laugh 24.7.

I can't believe Homecoming is in 3 weeks. I'm so excited!

  • Living fast forward.

The Eagles concert...amazing.  I will say I wasn't expecting them to come out in black suits with skinny ties but they sounded great and played all night.  No opener...just Eagles overload.  Which I tried to soak up every minute.  Probably my only time to see them...and one of the few concerts that my mom and I enjoyed equally well.  The only bad part was I had to get up and go to work the next day.

Speaking of work... I guess God answered my prayers.  I'm now swamped with stuff to do.  But, it's nice to feel a vital part of the team.  We have a new person coming next week.  He will be my supervisor... but the person I interact the most with ( my manager ) will still be training me.

I just got back from Houston.  I'm not sure what I was expecting from Houston, but it exceeded my expectations.  Maybe I was thinking El Paso ( gag me! ).  You could tell that a hurricane had come through...but we weren't impeded in anyway other than hardly any street lights worked.  While we were there, mom and I met up with Catherine and Curt Martin and went to the Houston Museum of Natural Science.  Thanks to Curt we got a sweet deal to get in.  The local exhibit was Body Worlds... ya know, where people donate their body after they die and they dissect them and then make them basically plastic.  I really didn't think that the death thing would bother me... but I just couldn't get over it.  <--- maybe a good thing!  I kept thinking that in this day of modern medicine do we really need to view a dead body in plastic?  Can't we make one of solid plastic.  The best part of the trip to Houston was all the seafood I got to eat.  Yummy!

I'm ready for this weekend and for Homecoming.  And, I keep saying that our trip to New Orleans can't come soon enough.

  • That's what you get when you let your heart win!

1,2,3,4 Tell me that you love me more!

It's been a while since I wrote a blog of any real substance.  Most likely from a condition called perpetual laziness.

I'm slightly sad that I missed a momentous victory for Louisiana Tech yesterday.  I did cheer from my bedroom here in Little Rock.  Does that count?  I really hope I can make it to the Tech/Southeastern game, esp. if Kristy can as well.  I would like to sport my blue Tech shirt with jean capris and flip flops.  I guess I look forward to this outfit all year long.  Oh, and we can't forget way oversized sun glasses with a game day attitude to match.  It's fun, even if only for a few hours.

Well, work is work.  It's slightly hectic crazy at Red Cross for a couple of reasons this past week:  I guess the biggest has been chapter preparing for Hurricane Gustav.  But, down in biomed we've had the FDA and proficiency exams the like.   I really hate how long it's taking for me to get trained.  I can't point the finger at anyone really... but we're so busy that it seems like time is better spent getting caught up and I still have little I can really do.  It frustrates me so much some days that I job search.  But, I like having a 1st shift ( read daytime ) job and it pays well, so I'm going to stick it out.  I also have excellent benefits that I really need to have right now.

With all of my free time, I really want to find some organizations here in Little Rock to get involved with.  I've played around with a few ideas of what I'd like to do, so now it's putting the wheels into motion.

So, my dream is coming true:  I finally get to see The Eagles in concert...in my area none the less.  I can't wait...literally.

Felisha and I went to an environmental rally and it's been on my mind a lot.  It was about coal plants.  Both presidential candidates talk about clean coal ( but from what I read there is no such thing ).  If I had enough moula I would def. convert to a more green house.  Too bad it costs double of everything else.

I have wonderful friends who put up with me running out of a restaurant crying with salsa in my hair.  Thanks again.

Oh, and on a small note.  I bought a car---- myself!

  • So, that job that was a little above my head.... I GOT IT!

And, I start tomorrow.  I've had exactly a month off since I graduated from med tech school.  I'm ready to work, but part of me hates those first few days at a place that seem like climbing Mt. Everest.  I don't know anyone, I don't know how to use their computer system, I have to be retrained in different procedures since it's a reference lab.  Blah!  But, on Wed. they did show me where my "spot" would be.  I get a personal drawer, hopefully I can put some funtastic pictures on there, so on the "I can't make it" days I can look at them and realize their is more to life than work.  :D

I've got more to say, but it'll have to wait for later.
